Plastic Polluted Ocean

How animals get affected by pollution

  • When animals get affected it leads to many health problems in the body like lung cancer, chronic respiratory disease, and many other diseases

  • Plastic kills fish, birds, marine mammals and sea turtles when they eat plastic

  • Pollution destroys animals habitats and can even wipe out entire species

  •  Toxic chemicals that accumulate in top predators can make some species unsafe to eat.

  • Some trash sinks, some are eaten by marine life

  • Some trash comes from oil spills others come through the drains and sewers and end up in the ocean

  • Plastic never fully disintegrates and can still affect the animals.

  • Most ocean pollution fits in two categories, chemicals and trash

  • Chemical pollution is bad for health, environmental and economic reasons

  • Lots of chemical pollution happen when fertilizer from your yard or farm go into streams or creeks, they eventually end up in the ocean

  • Pollution can even be bad for humans, especially fishing and tour companies

  • Eighty percent of ocean pollution comes from land

  • Microplastic can affect us from the ocean

  • How it ends up in the fish we eat and then if we aren’t careful we can eat it.

  • “The truth is, the sea has a special relationship with all of us. It keeps us alive,” said Antonio Guterres during the conference. He is the U.N. secretary general. “But that relationship is now under threat as never before.”

  • Plastic waste in the ocean will outweigh fish by 2050

  • Every year, 485 billion plastic bags are not recycled. Some end up in the ocean and can cause harm to sea life.
